Assistant for Physical Education and Exercise Science,
Honors Program, and Special Events through the Provost Office
This position shares duties and has many different roles while working with the Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science, Honors Program, and management of special events through the Provost Office.
Weekday mornings will be spent with the Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science. During this time, the administrative assistant will be assisting the chair with departmental duties including providing data reports, managing student schedules, developing social and training events, and assisting with equipment for classes. The administrative assistant needs be physically mobile in order to carry physical education equipment (up to 30lbs), set up for events, and prepare and sometimes even decorate classrooms and offices. Due to the frequency of generating database reports and creating and managing spreadsheets for budget, inventory, and enrollment, a willingness to learn new software is necessary.
Afternoons and summers will be spent working with the Honors Program and Provost Office with special events including Convocation and Graduation. With the honors program, the position requires management and organization of student information and communication of processes and timelines. Record keeping and data management is a critical component.
Assisting with special events through the Provost Office requires high organizational skills and attention to detail. The ability to communicate and delegate appropriately in a time-sensitive and sometimes high-pressure environment is necessary.
Qualifications: The candidate must be extremely organized with great communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility in duties and a willingness to learn is critical. The ability to multitask many different job duties within the three different job locations is necessary.
