Administrative Assistant, Department of Business


Reports To: Department of Business Chair.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt.

Summary Description: The Administrative Assistant for the Department of Business administratively supports the Department Chair and the Department and manages the physical facilities of Ted Russell Hall.

Functional Description: The position supports the Department Chair and Faculty in the Business Department. Responsibilities are determined by the Chair and include manage front desk (ex: phones, greet students, parents, visitors), maintain files, maintain and update appointment calendars, disseminate phone calls, mail, e-mail, and other information to appropriate individuals, staff a friendly and helpful reception area, handle administrative details of events, functions, communications, and meetings, prepare forms, letters and other documents, supervise building maintenance and security issues, schedule events and meetings in the Family Business Suite and Conference Rooms, supervisor student workers and lab workers, maintain adequate office supplies, forms, and paper inventory, maintain equipment used in the building, assist in projects as assigned by the Chair, direct students to appropriate individuals related to advising and curriculum matters, assist chair and faculty during registration and advising.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise Work Studies and Computer Lab Workers.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Previous office experience.

Required Skills: Familiarity with office computer systems such as Microsoft Office®. Ability to learn or use Powerpoint®, Excel®, Access®, Word®, Colleague UI By Ellucian® and Etrieve By Softdocs®.
