Celebration of Excellence

Just before graduation, senior nursing students and graduating masters' in nursing students are honored at the Celebration of Excellence ceremony. This formal spring event is attended by family members and friends of the graduating classes. Class members are recognized for their accomplishments, receive the Carson-Newman BSN or MSN pin. At the Celebration of Excellence, the following undergraduate student awards are announced:

Outstanding Student

This award is presented once each year at graduation. The recipient is recognized during the annual Celebration of Excellence Ceremony in May. The award goes to the BSN student selected by Division faculty to represent their definition of the most outstanding graduating senior. Criteria for the award include clinical skill, academic standing, and involvement in college activities.

Highest Academic Standing

The award is presented at the Celebration of Excellence Ceremony to the graduating senior from the BSN program with the highest cumulative GPA at the end of the semester prior to graduation.

Achievement Award

The student showing a consistently high quality of clinical performance in all clinical areas is the recipient of this award. This graduating senior's name is announced during the Honors Convocation and receives the award during the Pinning Ceremony.

Leadership Award

The award is presented by the Junior Class Representative of the Student Affairs Committee to the graduating senior who has been selected by peers to represent the greatest level of leadership within the group.
