If you are an RN who is seeking a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Carson-Newman can make your dreams come true. After completion of the prerequisites to nursing and two professional nursing courses, you can earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing in as little as one year of full-time study. Part-time study is also available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I get credit for what I already have accomplished?

Yes, as a Registered Nurse with a valid TN license, you will receive 30 hours of escrowed nursing credits for the nursing work you have completed in either a diploma or ADN program.

How long will it take to complete my BSN?

After completing General Education Requirements, only two semesters of nursing courses are required. Many students are able to finish in as few as three semesters.

Will I have to repeat experiences that I have already mastered in my first nursing program?

No, the RN to BSN program is designed to expand the student’s knowledge base. Theory and clinical experiences are offered concurrently with a focus on community nursing and leadership roles.

Admission Requirements for RN – BSN Program

Graduates from AD and Diploma nursing programs who are seeking to earn a BSN will be expected to

  • Complete the Application for Admission to Carson-Newman University
  • Provide an official transcript for all previous college and university work.
  • Complete of all prerequisite course work with a grade of C or better from Carson-Newman or an accredited college or university.
  • Maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale
