Mission of Interior Design: To provide a strong, quality undergraduate experience and interior design education, preparing the individual to protect the health, safety, and welfare of families and communities in the design, remodeling, and re-purposing of the built environment while embracing academic excellence and professional and Christian integrity.
Combining artistic ability with the knowledge of space planning, codes, materials, and finishes,
an Interior Designer creates spaces that are aesthetically beautiful, safe, and easy to work and live in. Interior Designers work in commercial and residential areas with specialties in hospitality, healthcare industries, aging in place, and residential kitchen and baths. Interior Designers protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public while bringing order and beauty into the built environment.
The FCS Interior Design major at Carson-Newman empowers students to capture their creative and artistic visions into practical and pragmatic design solutions with the ability to visually convey the concept to a client. Our students are equipped with the life skills necessary to become disciplined, skilled business people and to succeed in both family and professional life.
Graduates of the Interior Design Emphasis are self-employed design company business owners in commercial and residential design, and employed by commercial designers and architects.
