Dr. Steve Karr has been at Carson-Newman since 1987, having previously received his MS and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Georgia. Courses he teaches include Microbiology, Immunology, Judo, RAD, and Career Planning in the Health Professions. His office is room 203B in the science building (DSC). Hobbies include martial arts and hiking. Favorite secular book = Lord of the Rings; favorite music = classic rock.

Susan earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Behavior and a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of Georgia. She teaches our Animal Behavior course and coordinates our non-majors courses in Human Biology and Environmental Science. She has led CN's campus recycling program from its start. Susan's office is in DSC 214 in the Science Building.

Robert Trentham , Ph.D.

Dr. Trentham, a 1984 graduate of Carson-Newman, earned his M.S. degree in biology at Tennessee Tech, and the Ph.D. in plant sciences from the University of Tennessee. He is a former Carson-Newman athlete and an outstanding scholar and professor ( You haven’t really walked in a forest until you walk with Bob and listen as he discusses flora and fauna).
Bob joined the Carson-Newman faculty in 1989. Wife, Kim, and son, Heath, are Carson-Newman graduates, while daughter, Shannon, is a sophomore at C-N.
Each college is required by the NCAA bylaws to have a Faculty Athletics Representative. Dr. Trentham was appointed to this position this Fall.

Matt Wilkerson

After completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology at Carson-Newman, Matt pursued a variety of jobs, including being a Church Youth Director and owning a Bike Shop! He also competed a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee. When a position came open in the Biology Department, Matt decided to apply and we were lucky enough to be able to add him to our staff! Matt was named Outstanding Student Advisor last year, evidence of how much our students appreciate and respect his advice.
