Period of Employment: May 15 through September 4
Salary: $9.65/ hour for 37.5 hour week
Housing: Available at most parks at no charge, internships accepted
CRITERIA: At least a junior standing working toward an undergraduate degree in park administration, resource interpretation, general life sciences, foresty, wildlife, geology, history, anthropology/archeaology, natural resource based recreation with a minor in life sciences or history or other related areas of study. Coursework in outdoor recreation leadership and/or wilderness skills is supportive and desirable but not mandatory.
A sound knowledge of or willingness to learn about the natural and cultural history of the park area.
personality and commincative skills condicive to work in public services while guiding and directing interpretive programs, assisting park visitors and supporting park rangers and staff in a myriad of administrative, maintenance and operational duties.
DUTIES: Seasonal interpretor recreators are responsible for: providing interpretive programs such as guided tours, hikes, slide shows, demonstrations, campfires, and other outdoor activities for park visitors. Assiting the park rangers in the protection of the natural and cultural features, park boundary inspection.maintenace and other resource management activities as assigned. Assiting the park rangers in assuring that the park facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment are secure. Assists rangers in the inspection and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Assists rangers with routine reports and records, assists rangers in scheduling, delegating, and executing work assignments of various groups,
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATION:a valid vehicle license is required
