PhysAssist Scribes, Inc. is looking for experience-driven candidates who are pursuing careers in the medical field to join our team in Morristown, TN. Our scribes work in the emergency department at Morristown-Hamblen Medical Center. We are offering full time positions.

As a scribe you will:

Accompany the healthcare provider into patient examination rooms in order to transcribe the patient’s history, physical exam findings, consultations, labs, X-rays, and other evaluations, as stated by the provider, directly into the medical record

Maintain a comprehensive list of active patients to help the provider remain organized

Prepare plans for follow-up care, as directed by the provider

Process admittal and discharge paperwork

This is NOT an internship or a volunteer opportunity. Scribing allows you to shadow healthcare providers and get paid doing it, while gaining rare clinical experiences that help you grow as a person and as a professional.

Qualifications:

Highly motivated and experience-driven

Pre-health track (pre-med, pre-PA, pre-nursing) preferred

At least 18 years old and sophomore status or higher

Preferred GPA of 2.8+

No clinical experience required to apply

Ability to move about and follow a healthcare provider for extended periods of time

Ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment

Ability to read, write, comprehend through listening, and speak fluent English

Ability to operate a computer and/or laptop through proficient typing, clicking, and viewing a monitor for extended periods

Ability to handwrite legibly

Fall/Spring 2016/2017 Interns for the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program (CCUWDP)

The Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program is an initiative of Clean Cities, a government-industry partnership sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy's Vehicle Technologies Program. Clean Cities strives to reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector in nearly 100 communities across the country. Since the creation of the CCUWDP in 2010, Clean Cities has hosted more than 300 interns in more than 60 Coalitions.

The Clean Cities internship will give students studying communications, public relations, business, marketing, engineering or environmental sciences, the opportunity to grow public awareness and expand the markets of advanced vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, and practices that reduce the consumption of petroleum. Students have participated in research, outreach activities, public education, K-12 outreach, fleet events, and a vast array of transportation-related environmental projects.

Specific Details:
• Up to 20 internships available at competitively-selected U.S. Clean Cities Coalition locations working with dynamic Clean Cities coordinators and their stakeholders
• Positions are 15 or 20 hours per week (determined by the coalition) for 14 weeks each semester
• Internship dates: approximately September 6, 2016 through April 28, 2017. Exact start/end dates determined by individual coalitions
• Stipends range from $2,500 - $4,200 per semester depending on academic classification and number of hours assigned by the coalition.
• Many past internships have led to permanent positions!

Avalon Hospice of Morristown is seeking interns and volunteers. Student interns can shadow employees (nurse, chaplains, etc.) and assist as able. Student volunteers can participate in patient visits, assist patients and families with errands or household needs, arrange and deliver flowers, assist with veteran recognition, assist with office management, etc.

Qualifications: Open to students from any major (nursing, human services, religion, communication, sociology, psychology, etc). Previous hospice experience is not required.

The Knoxville Office of U.S. Senator Bob Corker is seeking applicants for the  2016 Internship Program. The state internship program focuses primarily on constituent services and case management. Interns will assist with addressing constituent concerns, contacting federal agencies, researching community resources, and administrative support. There is the potential for class credit depending on your major.

Four interns are accepted per semester, one per time slot. The time slots are:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:00am-12:30pm

Monday/Wednesday/Friday 12:30pm-5:00pm

Tuesday/Thursday 8:00am-12:30pm

Tuesday/Thursday 12:30pm-5:00pm

Qualifications: Open to students from any major (political science, communications, sociology, psychology, etc). Previous government experience is not required. Precedence is given to students who are rising sophomores or above. Interns are expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and reliability.
