The peak hiring season for private and independent schools is about to begin! Please consider forwarding this information to students you know who are interested in teaching.
Southern Teachers Agency provides a free resource to prospective teachers with knowledgeable, professional placement counselors guiding candidates through the competitive search process. Hundreds of private and independent schools around the South list vacancies with STA each year beginning in January! We encourage interested students to apply prior to the winter break to ensure ample time to prepare a credentials file for the peak hiring season. It is important that students begin talking with potential references and requesting letters of reference.
All active STA candidates are invited to our job fairs. These job fairs provide an excellent opportunity for candidates to personally meet with school administrators who are trying to fill actual vacancies. Administrators schedule interviews with candidates of interest to take place during the fair.
Southern Teachers Agency will hold three job fairs for active, registered STA candidates in 2013:
1) Best of the South! Atlanta, GA, February 9
Candidate application deadline: January 25
2) STA at NAIS: Philadelphia, PA, February 27 – March 1
Candidate application deadline: February 15
3) A Capitol Campaign: Washington, DC, March 23
Candidate application deadline: March 11
The STA online application can be found on our website at www.southernteachers.com. As a reminder, private schools certainly value candidates who have participated in a teacher certification program, but have the flexibility to hire teachers with a strong academic background who have not taken education courses.
Thank you for your consideration. If you have questions, we would be delighted to speak with you about STA, our process, or the types of opportunities available.
