Internship Program

The internship program in the Office of the Inspector General at the Tennessee Valley Authority offers students an opportunity to work with professional auditors in diverse subject areas. You will gain relevant work experience and a context for your classroom learning. The program is structured to meet any internship requirements included in university curricula.

Assignment

The Audits and Evaluations group performs a wide variety of engagements designed to promote positive change and provide assurance to TVA stakeholders. The group makes recommendations to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of TVA programs and operations. The Audits team oversees comprehensive financial and performance audits that provide an inclusive picture of TVA’s overall fiscal and operational health. This team is made up of four departments- Contract Audits, Corporate Governance and Finance Audits, IT Audits, and Operational Audits. The objectives of the Evaluations team include providing a source of factual and analytical information, monitoring compliance, measuring performance, assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and conducting inquiries into allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement. Interns will be assigned to the Evaluations team or one of the groups on the Audits team.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of EducationCompleted junior year core competency requirementsMajoring in accounting, finance, or a related business fieldAt least a 3.0 cumulative major and overall GPA on a 4.0 scaleEffective oral and written communication skillsWorking knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint softwareAt least 18 years oldNo relation to an officer of TVA (Vice President or above)U.S.citizen or meets the non-citizenship requirements outlined in TVA’s Citizenship PolicySubject to pre-employment drug testPass a security background check
