c-nvolved Peer Mentor Opportunity
C-nvolved, the Carson-Newman service-learning initiative, is looking for 12 students who enjoy service and have a desire to serve C-N and the community by helping other students and professors as a peer mentor. These mentors will help professors to create a connection between academic learning and service in the community. Those interested in applying should be a returning student for the 2014-2015 academic year.
C-nvolved peer mentors will work closely with their assigned department as support staff to aid professors in the facilitation of service-learning activities. Students will help professors to place students in service projects which meet the specification of the c-nvolved curriculum; they will help professors to record information pertaining to service-learning; and they will help to plan and engage students in reflection activities which are pertinent to the curriculum.
Peer Mentors will be expected to attend orientation events both this Spring (April 25) and early next Fall (August 18) and will work with all the c-nvolved professors of the assigned department to provide resources and help to those professors throughout the semester.
Students will receive course credit or Federal Work Study funds (if eligible). The application can be accessed below.
