Information for December 2008 Graduation Candidates
The Commencement Steering Committee is making final preparations for your commencement ceremony. Commencement rehearsal will be held in Holt Field House on Friday, December 12th and will begin promptly at 1 p.m. The commencement committee has approved a new commencement gown with the Carson-Newman seal embossed on the shoulder. The December 2008 class will be the first class to wear the new gown.
December commencement will be held at Holt Field House beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008. Please plan to arrive at The Maddox Student Activities Center on Saturday evening no later than 6:00 p.m. Graduates will assemble beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the MSAC to form the processional.

These forms were mailed in the graduation packet or they can be downloaded from the registrar’s webpage. Forms may be returned to the Registrar’s Office or submitted at commencement rehearsal. If you are unable to complete the forms prior to rehearsal, you will be asked to complete them before leaving rehearsal.
If you are unable to participate in commencement, you must notify the Provost’s Office (in writing) that you wish to graduate in absentia. If you do not walk in the ceremony, you must also contact the Registrar’s Office to let us know if you will pick up your diploma or if you wish to have it mailed. If you want us to mail your diploma, please make sure we have your correct mailing address.
Important reminders:
- Official transcripts, which include coursework needed to satisfy graduation requirements, must be received by Monday, December 15th.
- Grades for coursework in which a grade of “I” is posted must be submitted by Monday, December 15th.
- Attendance at all CLW’s required for earning a passing grade must be completed prior to the end of the semester in order for credit to be earned toward graduation.
- Your $100 graduation fee will be added to your student account. Please make sure that you account is cleared before graduation. The Registrar’s Office will be unable to release diplomas and/or official transcripts until accounts are clear.
- Your diploma will be mailed only after grades are processed and your graduation requirements are verified.
