In addition to the common admission requirements, the requirements for a student who wishes to pursue work leading to the Master of Science in Counseling are:
• Complete application form, written statement of vocational goals, and $25 application
fee.
• A recommendation from each of the following areas: academic, employment, and
character. Recommendation forms are provided with the application.
• One official transcript of all undergraduate study. Also, one official graduate transcript
showing courses which are being transferred to Carson-Newman College to count
toward the Master’s degree (maximum of 9 semester hours taken within the past 5
years).
• Successful completion of an interview for the purpose of assessment of personal
characteristics and academic proficiency of the candidate.
• A bachelor’s degree from a four-year regionally accredited college, showing a
minimum GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) in the undergraduate major.
• A minimum 2.75 (on a 4.00 scale) overall undergraduate GPA.
• GRE scores taken within the last five years.
