BSN Application with already Earned Nursing Credits:
Students who are interested in nursing are encouraged to visit the Nursing Division and discuss the program with a faculty member. All nursing majors will be assigned a departmental adviser who will closely follow the student's academic progress. Students who wish to transfer into nursing from another school must have their previous work evaluated before being admitted to the nursing program. Transcripts of students with prior college credit will be evaluated on an individual basis.
To apply for admission to the nursing program you must:
• Be accepted for admission to Carson-Newman College
• Have completed prerequisite course work with a grade of C or better
• Have earned a grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
• Submit an official transcript for all college and university work.
• Complete an application to begin nursing courses
All students must complete the following general education requirements before beginning nursing courses:
Biology 207, 208, 316
Chemistry 101
Child and Family Studies 206
English 101, 201
Food and Nutrition 214
** Math 201 must be completed before enrolling in Foundations in Nursing
Research N315
Other general education requirements include:
Goal I (Communicate Effectively) 6 hours from category B, C, or D
Goal III – Religion 101, 102
English 301
Goal IV (Personal/Social Responsibility) 6 hours form category B, C, or D
Goal V 3 hours in category B – Fine Arts, 3 hours in Category E
