Student Leadership
Each year two student representatives from each level of the graduate program are selected to serve on the Nursing Division Graduate Student Affairs Committee and the Graduate Curriculum Committee. These student representatives provide a direct communication between students and faculty, bringing attention to student ideas and concerns about the program.
Student Guidance
Graduate nursing students are assigned an advisor who is available to assist the student as needed, and other faculty members are available to serve as consultant or advisor for specific projects. Institutional student policies may be found in the Carson-Newman College Graduate Catalog. In addition, The Division of Nursing Graduate Student Handbook contains those policies specific to the pursuit of a masters degree in nursing. Policies in the Graduate Handbook are reviewed and evaluated by the Student Affairs Committee.
Celebration of Excellence
Just before graduation, graduating masters in nursing students and baccalaureate students are honored at the Celebration of Excellence ceremony. This formal spring event is attended by family members and friends of the graduating classes. Class members are recognized for their accomplishments, receive the Carson-Newman BSN or MSN pin, or the Post-Masters Certificate. A reception follows the ceremony.
