Observing Constitution Day

Dr. Kara Stooksbury, associate professor of political science, welcomed General Sessions Court Judge Ben Strand to campus Monday. The 1962 alumnus helped celebrate the 225th anniversary of the document’s signing by examining Tennessee’s appellate court structure and proposed changes to it in an address titled “Will Justice be for Sale in Tennessee?”

Constitution Day has been observed at colleges and universities since 2004, when the late-Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) proposed it as an amendment to the Omnibus Spending Bill.
