Carson-Newman College invites applicants for a tenure track full-time position in Linguistics and German or Spanish to begin August 2010 in the School of Humanities, Department of Foreign Language and Linguistics.
The department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics has 5 full-time faculty members and offers majors in Spanish, French, Languages, and Linguistics. While Carson-Newman College is a liberal arts college focused on teaching excellence, our departmental faculty are also active in research and publication in their various fields.
Candidates for the position of assistant or associate professor must have a PhD in Germanic or Hispanic Linguistics or related field, but ABD will be considered. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a wide range of language classes, as well as Introduction to Linguistics, Phonetics, Phonology, and Syntax. Applicants should be prepared to nurture and grow a new linguistics major (started in 2008) and will be able to influence curriculum development. Native or near-native proficiency in German or Spanish and English is required.
