Graduate Studies in Counseling Handbook

The Graduate Studies in Counseling Handbook is prepared to guide students through their professional training. The GSC Faculty urge students to become acquainted with the contents to the Handbook. If students have questions, they should consult with their advisors as soon as possible.

GSC Practicum and Internship Handbook

Clinical field experiences represent the culmination of counseling training.  During practicum experience, students work with clients in actual field settings to practice refining their counseling skills.  During internship experiences, students develop all counselor competencies required for their specific area of training, i.e., school or mental health.  Students should familiarize themselves with the prerequisites and expectations of their clinical field experiences by reading the Handbook below.

American Counseling Association

The American Counseling Association is a not-for-profit, professional and educational organization that is dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the counseling profession. Founded in 1952, ACA is the world's largest association exclusively representing professional counselors in various practice settings.  The ACA Code of Ethics sets the standard of practice as a professional counselor but serves a guide to training of professional counselors.  Students in C-N Graduate Studies in Counseling are expected to adhere to the ACA Code of Ethics.

American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy

The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) is the professional association for the field of marriage and family therapy. AAMFT represents the professional interests of more than 50,000 marriage and family therapists throughout the United States, Canada and abroad.
