MED: Reading Specialist Online

The Master of Education:  Reading Specialist program leads to licensure as a Reading Specialist PreK-12 in the State of Tennessee.  Candidates must have three years of teaching experience and pass the Praxis Reading specialist test to complete the program and be recommended for licensure.

The following list of courses comprise the curriculum for the MEd for Reading Specialist, PreK-12.

  • EDUC 623, Practicum in Remediation of Reading Problems, 3 hours
  • EDUC 624, Reading in the Content Area/Working with Adolescents, 3 hours
  • EDUC 625, Organization and Administration of Reading Programs, 3 hours
  • EDUC 630, Introduction to Educational Research, 3 hours
  • SPED 521, Language Development, 3 hours
  • TESL 565, Language and Culture, 3 hours
