Program Overview

An MBA from Carson-Newman provides an excellent framework to construct your future.  Our Online program, a professional-level graduate degree for students with diverse fields and academic backgrounds, prepares continuing students and working professionals for positions of increased responsibility and leadership. The MBA degree is a distinguishing characteristic among business professionals providing challenging opportunities to “lifelong learners.”

The MBA program requires 30 graduate credit hours and must be completed within five years of acceptance into the program.  The program emphasizes critical and strategic thinking, development of managerial skills, real-world applications, ethics, and leadership; providing in-depth knowledge of the functional areas of business and extensive opportunities to develop interpersonal and communication skills. Caring faculty teach our courses and classes are small to improve student learning and collaboration.

The MBA program can be completed in 11 to 24 months, depending on full time or half time enrollment and entrance date. Each fall and spring course is offered in a 7 week term; allowing students to concentrate on one course (half time program) or two courses (full time program) at a time, giving students more flexibility in program admission dates and course scheduling. Summer courses are offered in two five week terms.

We encourage applicants with degrees in all major fields of study from accredited institutions. However, there are pre-requisite business course requirements to enter the program. These pre-requisites can be satisfied by completing the appropriate undergraduate courses or online preparatory modules. Students should consult with the MBA Director for more information.

All but nine hours of the course work in the MBA program must be taken from Carson-Newman. Up to nine semester hours of graduate credit from a regionally accredited college or university may be transferred to Carson-Newman to be used toward the MBA degree. Transfer hours must have been earned within the immediate five years prior to enrollment in the program unless approved by the MBA Director. Grades transferred must be A or B. Transfer course(s) must be comparable to that offered at Carson-Newman, and credit will be awarded based on an assessment by the Office of the Registrar and/or the MBA Director.
