  Mark Borchert worked in the communication industry as a writer, researcher, and producer before earning his doctorate in Communication. He now teaches students writing, research, and production, while overseeing Carson-Newman's growing film program. Mark enjoys helping students practice the ancient art of storytelling using the latest in media technology. Mark has published research on media and religion, filmmaking, and the changes brought about by new communication technologies. His current research examines the ways churches and other religious organizations structure identity through their communication efforts. He is developing the Communicating Church Conference, a communication resource for pastor and other church leaders
