In 1956, Mrs. C. C. James gave the college a large, two-story dwelling, located near the campus on Russell Avenue, as a memorial to her brother, J. C. Duncan, who died during his senior year year at Carson-Newman.  In 1989, the home was renovated to serve as a showcase of textiles and other interior furnishings and as a model resident management Laboratory.  This 3,468 square foot house is managed by the School of Family and Consumer Sciences.
