Biochemistry Curriculum >>

Welcome to the biochemistry major!

The department of chemistry is proud to offer a BS degree in Biochemistry---one of the most rapidly changing areas of science. The resources and opportunities in Biochemistry at CN are among the best you will find in any liberal arts college within our geographical region.

Biochemistry is concerned with one of the greatest wonders and unsolved mysteries of nature: the relationship between “life” and “non-life” as it exists in the intimate connections between living organisms and their non-living constituents---such as proteins, DNA, hormones, and vitamins. Students of biochemistry must synthesize the insights gained from in-depth courses in both biology and chemistry. A bachelor of science degree in biochemistry will prepare you for direct entry into the multifaceted biotechnology workforce as well as for advanced training such as graduate school, medical school, pharmacy, or other health professions.
