Program Overview

An MBA from Carson-Newman provides an excellent framework to construct your future.  Our program, a professional-level graduate degree for students with diverse fields and academic backgrounds, prepares working professionals for positions of increased responsibility and leadership. The MBA degree is a distinguishing characteristic among business professionals providing challenging opportunities to “lifelong learners.”

Program Format

The MBA program requires 30 graduate credit hours earned within five years of acceptance into the program.  The program emphasizes critical and strategic thinking, development of managerial skills, real-world applications, ethics, and leadership; providing in-depth knowledge of the functional areas of business and extensive opportunities to develop interpersonal and communication skills. Caring faculty teach our courses and classes are small to improve student learning and collaboration. We encourage applicants with degrees in all major fields of study from accredited institutions.

The MBA program can be completed in 11 to 16 months, depending on the rate you complete the course work and entrance date in a particular semester. The program is designed to allow the students to take three 5-week courses each semester. This format concentrates the students on one subject at a time. In addition, this format gives students more flexibility in program admission dates and course scheduling. Carson-Newman offers this program year round, with three semesters per year.

Transfer Credit

All but nine hours of the course work in the MBA program must be taken from Carson-Newman. Up to nine semester hours of graduate credit from a regionally accredited college or university may be transferred to Carson-Newman to be used toward the MBA degree. Transfer hours must have been earned within the immediate five years before enrollment in the program unless approved by the MBA Director. Grades transferred must be "A" or "B." Transfer courses must be comparable to that offered at Carson-Newman, and credit will be awarded based on an assessment by the MBA Director.
