What do you love most about Carson-Newman? The faculty at C-N don’t just care about how you score on an exam or if you come to class—they care about your personal and spiritual development, and that’s why Carson-Newman students succeed. We have a network of accountability and compassion that makes us want to succeed on and off campus because our professors and staff don’t see students as numbers, but as individual people that make up the greater C-N family.

What is your favorite Carson-Newman tradition? I really love Constitution Day, where we have a CLW credit devoted to celebrating the US Constitution and a speaker comes and talks about a Constitutionally-related modern issue. I think I attended three or four years out of my undergraduate years, and the speakers were always excellent! It was one of my favorite ways to get CLW credit as a student.

What is your most memorable college experience? My favorite moment in college was getting to compete with the C-N Forensics team at the National Christian College Forensics Association’s speech and debate tournament when it was held outside of Los Angeles, California. California was awesome, but it was even more fun to bring a national championship trophy back to campus!

What advice do you offer to students regarding college? Visit campuses! You’ll never know if a campus feels like home until you step foot on it. Take the tour, see the dorms, discover how friendly the staff and students are—those are the things that are going to make or break your four years.

If you get a three-day weekend, how do you spend it? Most weekends include me working on homework for my graduate program, but when I get an extra bit of off-time, I LOVE to do things with my youth group—taking them to local Christian concerts or going on hikes!

What do you love most about Carson-Newman? I love the family atmosphere that C-N offers. I loved that Professors took the time to get to know students for who they were outside the classroom.

What is your favorite Carson-Newman tradition? My favorite traditions were the ones that challenged me to get out and help the community around me like Operation Inasmuch and our SPOTS trips. These gave me the opportunity to give back by helping those in need, most of the time right in our backyard!

What is your most memorable college experience? My favorite experience at C-N was competing in our Intramural Sports and winning a few championship t-shirts along the way! The Intramural program gave me the opportunity to stay active and competitive even though I no longer played organized sports.

What advice do you offer to students regarding college? Visit multiple schools and get a feel for all kinds of different campus environments. You are going to be spending the next four years of your life at the school you choose so make sure you pick the one that fits you best! Also, listen to your gut when you visit those schools, it will let you know if it is a good fit or not.

If you get a three-day weekend, how do you spend it? Many of my weekends are spent with friends and family and the rare three-day weekend only adds more time for fun and games. My friends and I love game nights so we are always looking for more time to beat each other at our favorite board games.

I met my husband on a mission trip to Kenya in 2012 and have been in love with the country and the people in it ever since! My husband and I want to do international missions, so hopefully we will be traveling all over the world one day. The waves and the ocean in general always seems to fascinate me and also point me to God’s infinite power!
