How did you come to Carson-Newman?
Carson-Newman was the last school I ever planned to attend because I was determined not to continue the family legacy set by my grandparents, their siblings, aunts and uncles, and countless cousins. However, God had plans that I wasn’t sure of yet, and am still figuring out, that led me here. I am truly grateful for His guidance in leading me to CN.

How did you come to Carson-Newman?
Most people choose a college because of the atmosphere or how nice the people are when they visit. My journey was a little different. Going to a small high school I was dead set on gaining a big school college experience at UT or ETSU. My visit at CN was great, and the people were really nice, but I just didn’t want another small school. When it came down to making the decision, my family influence and a lot of prayer are the two main reasons I ended up at Carson-Newman. I have not regretted that decision since. The people I’ve met, the relationships I’ve made, and the education I’ve received has made my college experience everything I could have expected. CN may not have been my first choice, but I believe there is a reason I am here today.
What is your favorite experience as an RA?
One of my favorite experiences as an RA occurred during my second year at RA training at Carson Springs. We we’re having our traditional huge bonfire in the middle of the woods, making ooey gooey s’mores, singing praise songs, and taking in the beautiful starry night sky. Sounds super cheesy, but something about building relationships with the people you work so closely with throughout the whole year in a setting like that is pretty powerful. Before the stress of school sets in and the “real” RA training begins, having the ability to get away, relax, and have some fun with some awesome people is a great perk to the job.
