Recreational Services Trips - Spring 2014
The Recreational Services Council has the following remaining trips planned for the spring of 2014. This is your personal invitation from council members Lauren Vath, Charlie Rhea, Emily Zitzman and Ricke Hester to join the fun! YOU MAY PRE-REGISTER FOR TRIPS USING THE FORM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. (Please note theat pre-registering does not guarantee your spot on the trip. Final registration may be made in the Rec. Services Office - MSAC room 2014 along with payment as required per trip.)
ROCK CLIMB ADVENTURE - Wednesday, March 5, 7:00pm-9:30pm, River Sports Climbing Center, Knoxville - The Climbing Center offers a variety of climbing options to suit all abilities. It is a full gym complete with bouldering, top ropes, and lead climbing as well as training equipment. From no experience to advanced, students of all ability levels will enjoy this adventure. All participants receive instruction and equipment from the professionals before climbing. Trip capacity 17 persons. Transportation on 2 vans. Leave C-N at 6:00pm and return about 10:30pm. Regular price = $12.00. Your cost is only $5.00 including transportation.
HIKE IN THE SMOKIES - "RAMSEY CASCADES"- Sunday, March 9, 2:00pm - 7:00pm, Great Smoky Mountains National Park - Ramsey Cascades is the tallest waterfall in the park, as well as one of the most spectacular. Water drops 100 feet over rock outcroppings and collects in a small pool at the bottom. The Ramsey Cascades trail gains 2375 feet in elevation over its 4-mile course and concludes at the base of the falls at an elevation of 4,400 feet . The trail winds through the largest old-growth forest remaining in the national park. Some of the trees along the trail are among the largest known in the park. The 8 mile round trip hike is graded at "strenuous". Due to the length and difficulty of the trail, all participants should be in good physical shape, and, preferably, have hiking experience. Trip capacity 28 persons. Transportation by 3 vans. Leave C-N at 12:30pm and return about 8:45pm. Regular price - $0. Your cost is FREE including transportation. All participants are responsible for bringing a "sack lunch/dinner" to eat on the trail.
PAINTBALL - Sunday, March 30, 2:00pm - 4:30pm, Longview Ranch, near Greeneville, TN - Ready for some video-game-like action and excitement? This may be your ticket. Equipment, 500 paintballs and a tank of air are all you need for several rounds of fun;. We need a full group of 20 students on this trip to maximize the fun. Trip capacity 20 persons. Transportation on 2 vans. Leave C-N at 12:30pm and return about 6:00pm. Regular price = $35.00. Your cost is only $15.00 including transportation.
BIKE TRIP - VIRGINIA CREEPER TRAIL - Saturday, April 12, 12:30pm - 3:00pm, Damascus, VA - Ride the famous and gorgeous Virginia Creeper Trail. This 17 mile journey has beautiful mountain views, passes through pristine forests, crosses clear streams and generally brings peace to the soul! The ride is easy, mostly downhill, and well worth the effort. Bike rentals are available for those without a bike. Trip capacity 17 persons. Transportation on 2 vans. Leave C-N at 9:00am and return about 5:30pm. We will be eating lunch at Damascus about 11:15am. Participants are responsible for buying their lunch. Regular price (including bike rental and shuttle service) = $26.00. Your cost is only $13.00 + lunch ($8.00 + lunch if you bring your own bike).
