Recreational Services Trips



The Recreational Services Council has five trips planned for students this spring! This is your personal invitation from the council members Ricke Hester, Tristan MacDonald, and Spenser Smith to join the fun!  Final registration for all trips is in the Rec. Services Office - MSAC room 1014 along with payment as required per trip.  On-line pre-registration us available below.

  RIPLEY’S AQUARIUM – Friday, January 19 – 6:00pm – 10:00pm, Gatlinburg

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is full of life – with approximately 10,000 sea creatures comprising more than 350 individual species. Voted the #1 aquarium in 2013 by Trip Advisor, the aquarium features 12-foot sharks, a giant sea turtle, thousands of sea creatures and playful penguins.  Tour in state-of-the-art Clear Underwater Tunnels throughout – the ultimate underwater experience without being wet!  Enjoy entertaining dive and feeding shows in Coral Reef, Stingray Bay and Penguin Playhouse. Pet horseshoe crabs and stingrays in the Discovery Center and Touch-A-Ray Bay. Trip capacity: 10 persons. Transportation on 1 van. Leave C-N at 6:00pm and return about 10:00pm. Regular admission fee = $37.50  Your cost is only $5.00 and includes transportation

  SEVIER AIR (trampoline & Ninja warrior park) – Friday, February 2 – 6:00pm - 10:00pm, Sevierville

Join us for high flying fun in the Smoky Mountains! Sevier Air features 38,000 square feet of advanced & junior Ninja Warrior courses, trampolines & a first ever 3 story net climbing system.  You’ll have 2 hours to bounce, climb and test your Ninja Warrior obstacle course skills.  This is fun on a big scale with plenty of things to do! Trip capacity: 20 persons. Transportation in 2 vans.  Leave C-N at 6:00pm and return about 10:00pm.  Regular admission price = $34.00.  Your cost is only $10.00 including transportation.

 LOST SEA (caverns & underground lake) – Saturday, March 17, 10:00am - 4:30pm

The Lost Sea adventure begins with a guided tour of the caverns. This involves a ¾ mile round-trip walk on wide sloping pathways. While touring the caverns and underground lake, the guides will explain the fascinating geological development of the immense cavern rooms and rare formations. At the bottom of the cave you will take a boat ride on The Lost Sea, America’s Largest Underground Lake.  The tour takes about an hour and 15-20 minutes. Trip capacity 20 persons. Transportation in 2 vans.  Leave C-N at 10:00am and return about 4:30pm. Regular admission price = $19.95.  Your cost is only $8.00! Participants are responsible for food purchases (lunch) while on this trip.

 HIKE TO MT. LECONTE - Saturday, March 24 -  8:30pm – 6:00pm Great Smoky Mts. National Park  (CLW credit!)

Mount LeConte and its impressive triple peaks is the most prominent feature of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP) on the Tennessee side of the Smokies. Mount LeConte is 6,593-feet at its peak and is the 6th tallest mountain east of the Mississippi river. It is only 91 feet shorter than the tallest peak in the east, Mount Mitchell. and 50 feet shorter than Clingmans Dome.  A major appeal of Mount LeConte is the amazing views which you can enjoy from any hiking trail all the way up to the summits as well as the breathtaking views up top.  This trip will take the Alum Cave Bluff Trail, the shortest of the 5 trails to the summit, at about 5.2 miles one way. Total hiking time will be about 3 hours up and 2.5 hours down. Along the way up there are interesting features including Arch Rock, Inspiration Point, and the impressive 80 feet high Alum Cave Bluff. Trip capacity: 20 persons. Transportation in 2 vans. Leave C-N at 8:30am and return about 6:00pm.  Trip is FREE including transportation, but participants are responsible for bringing a backpack and their water &  food for lunch and snacks.

 BIKE TRIP - CREEPER TRAIL- Saturday, April 7 – 9:00am – 5:30pm, Damascus, VA  

 Ride the famous and gorgeous Virginia Creeper Trail! This 17-mile journey has beautiful mountain views, passes through pristine forests, crosses clear streams and generally brings peace to the soul! The ride is easy, mostly downhill, and well worth the effort. Bike rentals are available for those without a bike. Trip capacity 20 persons. Transportation on 2 vans. Leave C-N at 9:00am and return about 5:30pm. We will be eating lunch at Damascus about 11:15am. Participants are responsible for buying their lunch. Regular price (including bike rental and shuttle service) =$27.00. Your cost is only $13.00 + lunch ($8.00 + lunch if you bring your own bike)
