Recreational Services Trips
The Recreational Services Council is planning several trips for the fall semester. Here is the schedule to date:
WHITEWATER RAFTING TRIP – Saturday, August 24 – Upper Pigeon River
Great trip and beautiful weather. Sixteen students went rafting.
BIKING CADES COVE LOOP – Saturday, September 14 – Cades Cove, GSMNP
Fabulous weather and a perfect day! Gorgeous views in Cades Cove. Thirteen students went biking!
FALL HIKE – Sunday, October 13 – "Lover's Leap" - Hot Springs, NC
Leave time from C-N is 12:30pm from the MSAC. Return time to campus will be approximately 8:00pm. Drive time to the trailhead is about 1.25 hours and hike time is around 3-4 hours. Cost is free. Students will be required to bring dinner with them to eat along the trail. One C-N van is reserved for this trip.
Since the National Park is closed, the Rec. Services Hike destination has been changed to the “Lover’s Leap” loop trail in Hot Springs, NC. This is about a 5 mile loop trail through the mountains including a beautiful overlook called “Lover’s Leap”.
Some of the trail to the leap is steep, but the overall hike is rated moderate in difficulty.
The beautiful weather is expected to continue, so it should be a nice day for a hike!
Hot Springs is a beautiful mountain town in western North Carolina. The distance from CN is only about 50 miles.
We are arranging a bus for transportation, so we should be able to accommodate all students who want to go.
DOLLYWOOD - Saturday, November 2
Cost is only $15.00 per student for this special trip to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN. Trip capacity is 15 persons. Trip leaves at 9:30am from the MSAC parking lot and returns approximately 7:00pm. Students may pre-register below, but registration is not final until payment is received in the Recreational Services Office. Once all spots are taken, registration will be closed.
