Service and Volunteer Opportunities
Each month there are numerous ways to serve throughout our campus and community. Rather you are looking for a single service project or a monthly or even weekly opportunity to volunteer there is a place for you!
BCM OutReach- Team Monthly Service Projects through Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM)- Some examples include Bingo at a local assisted living facility, Ministering with teenagers and children, working with the less fortunate and homeless population, etc.
Appalachian Outreach (AO)- Poverty Relief Ministry- Serve both our community and this appalachian region of East Tennessee through our Home Repair Ministry, Food and Clothing Pantry, Firewood Ministry, Hispanic Ministry, Recycling Ministry, Computer Ministry, volunteer at the AO Thrift Store and More!
Samaritan House Family Ministries- Partnering with Appalachian Outreach the Samaritan House serves hundreds of families a year giving them a safe place to live and an opportunity to know the love of Christ in a warm, Christian environment. Christian counseling and motivation is provided to help people find both a new home and employment opportunities. Families can stay up to 45 days in the shelter while rebuilding both their life circumstances. Volunteers are always needed to help cook meals for the Tuesday night Bible Study, Lead devotions for the Tuesday night Bible Study, Tutoring Children, Play and spend time with the resident's children, Lead computer classes, Clean the facilities, Help with administrative work, etc.
Community Connections- Community Connections is a program ran through the Bonner Center for Service located here on our campus. Community Connections exists to connect students with service opportunities in our local community.
Operation InAsMuch (OI)- One day community service blitz for Carson-Newman students, faculty, and staff to serve within the surrounding areas. This year's OI is set for Saturday, September 22, 2012.
