Atlanta, GA – March 5-11, 2017
Missionaries will be serving in the heart of the city of Atlanta, GA. This team will be joining many other spring break mission teams and directly working with a ministry called, "The Atlanta Dream Center." The Atlanta Dream Center hosts a variety of ministries that our mission team will be experiencing throughout their week in Atlanta. This team will be serving the homeless population, youth and kids as well as spending an evening working with a humantrafficking ministry. These three areas are the foci of The Atlanta Dream Center.
iAm is their homeless ministry where their goal is focused on reaching, rescuing, and restoring both the physical and spiritual lives of those who live on the streets. Our team will participate in "Compassion Nights" where they will deliver food, pray with, and provide an opportunity for a safe and dry place to sleep along with opportunities to share their own faith with individuals that they meet. The team will also volunteer at a local homeless shelter.
Another area of focus surrounds the kids and youth of inner-city Atlanta. MetroKidz motto is, "better to build boys and girls than to repair men and women.” Metrokidz uses teams like ours to allow children and teens to see potential in themselves and a world that is bigger than their circumstances. This team will serve several days throughout the week at a local housing authority to play with and give a Bible lesson to the kids.
Our mission team will also have the opportunity to work with the "Out of Darkness Ministry." They will participate in a "Princess Night" where our team, after prayer and training, will go and hand out roses and handwritten cards of encouragement and scripture in areas where there are known street prostitution and trafficking occurring. The women are given a 24/7 rescue hotline number and told that they are loved and beautiful, and ask if there is anything that they would like for us to pray with them about.
This will be a trip that will both stretch individuals as they see a variety of life's hardships, but will also allow us to share in spreading the redemptive hope of Jesus Christ our Lord!
While in Atlanta housing will be provided by the Atlanta Dream Center. Missionaries will end the week of great service and ministry exploring downtown Atlanta, Centennial Park, The CNN Building, and other fun and exciting attractions of Atlanta, GA!
