Associate Vice President of Development
Carson-Newman University, a Christian, liberal arts based university, located on the lake side of the Smoky Mountains in Jefferson City, Tennessee seeks an Associate Vice President of Development. Under the direction of the Vice President of Advancement (VPA), the Associate Vice President of Development will provide leadership and direction in major gift and annual giving fundraising efforts, including corporate, foundation, and individual giving with programs in major gifts and annual giving at the university.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Providing guidance to and management of all programs of major gifts and annual giving leadership
- Managing a portfolio of 100 prospects with an assigned annual fundraising goal; serving as a senior development officer
- Designing and implementing programs and strategies to identify and interest prospective donors in contributing to CNU
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning, with a Master’s degree preferred; eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising preferred with a successful record of designing, implementing and leading fundraising programs; demonstrated experience and knowledge in all fundraising aspects including corporate and foundation giving, annual giving and individual major gifts programs; demonstrated experience in obtaining five (5) to six (6) figure gifts, and have at least two (2) years of management experience; excellent written and oral communication skills; grant and proposal writing expertise; demonstrated ability to handle complex tasks, to formulate plans, and to carry out objectives, and to interact effectively with individuals; travel and evening work is also required. Experience with advancement database programs such as Raiser’s Edge preferred.
