ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF NURSING AND PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Carson-Newman University invites applicants for an Associate Professor of Nursing and Program Director of MSN in the Department of Nursing. The position is a Full-Time, 11-month contract, tenure-track. to begin August 2018 or earlier.
Candidates for the position must have: Minimum doctorate in nursing or related field from a regionally accredited institution. Must have an earned MSN and BSN.
At least three years of experience in full-time teaching in a professional nursing program including experience with on-line teaching. The equivalent of three years of full-time practice experience as a nurse practitioner. Registered nurse licensure and licensure as an advanced practice nurse in the State of Tennessee. Maintain national certification as a nurse practitioner.
Active participation in professional nursing organizations. Attendance at continuing education offerings appropriate to teaching, nursing practice, and nursing education. Contribution to professional, academic journals, or other similar kinds of contributions.
Critical Skills: punctuality, organization, positive customer service, clear and succinct oral and written communication, strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work within teams, ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced environment, ability to plan and execute strategic initiatives and to meet deadlines, high performance standard of achievement, self-motivated, and self-controlled. Proficient in the use of appropriate technology (Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel, the University LMS, the University digital documents solution, etc.).

Candidates for the position of Associate Professor of Nursing and Program Director of MSN will lead course development and assessment, program marketing and student recruitment, faculty hiring and evaluations, and collaboration with the Nursing Department, Adult and Graduate Studies, and other key university departments to plan, promote, grow, and sustain a vibrant, academically rigorous, and successful MSN program. Some teaching in the candidate’s field is also expected.
The rank and salary will be commensurate with educational preparation and experience. Group life and health insurance as well as a 401K retirement plan are available on a participating basis.
