Carson-Newman University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Department of Nursing and Behavioral Health. The position is full-time, nine-month, tenure-track to begin August 12, 2013.
Candidates for the position mush have a minimum of baccalaureate degree in nursing and master’s degree with a major in nursing. An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field is preferred. Candidate must hold or be eligible for an unencumbered Tennessee RN license and a minimum of 2 years clinical experience within the last 5 years. National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner is recommended.

Candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Nursing will be expected to teach 24 semester hours per year (both classroom and clinical), advise students in the discipline, demonstrate excellence in mentoring and role modeling for students, implement current professional standards in classroom and clinical setting, and maintain active participation in professional nursing organizations. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the University and Departmental/School missions, be a collegial member of the institution at all levels, participate in professional and scholarly activities, and provide service to the University and to the community-at-large.
The Programs of Undergraduate Studies in Nursing and Graduate Studies in Nursing hold active membership in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. The Undergraduate Studies in Nursing offers a traditional BSN, accelerated BSN, and BSN with minor in Military Leadership (Army ROTC). The Graduate Studies in Nursing offers an MSN with emphasis as Family Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Educator.
