ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF FILM AND DIGITAL MEDIA

Carson-Newman University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Film and Digital Media position in the Department of Communication. The position is full-time, nine month, and tenure-track to begin August 2018.
Candidates for the position must have a Master of Fine Arts in Film or a related field (additional degrees or credentials are a plus), experience in digital film production, a strong body of film work, excellent understanding software for digital creation including Adobe CC (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and Final Cut Pro, and some teaching experience. Carson-Newman employs faculty and staff who are actively supportive, through a local church, of its aim as a university with a Christian commitment.
Candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Film and Digital Media will be responsible for a four/four teaching load including courses in video production, advanced production, digital media, and web design, as well as courses related to the candidate’s area of interest that could include narrative or documentary film, film theory or criticism, media law, communication, digital storytelling, and/or technological innovation. The candidate will also oversee a computer lab for film and digital production, serve on faculty committees, work to recruit, retain, and advise students, supervise Senior film projects and student workers, and maintain an active production and/or research agenda.
The rank and salary will be commensurate with educational preparation and experience. Group life and health insurance as well as a 401K retirement plan are available on a participating basis.
