Carson-Newman University seeks an Applications Programmer to assist Information Technology Services and other Carson-Newman offices with their programming needs. Principal duties include the design, analysis and programming associated with maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to existing administrative applications as well as the design, analysis, and programming associated with developing complex new administrative applications.
This position must be able to quickly learn and utilize a wide variety of development tools to retrieve and update administrative and academic data from a variety of databases, streamline departmental processes, and improve the student experience with minimal technical supervision.
The Applications Programmer is expected to implement, modify, test, and document solutions based on the specifications of the Institutional Research and Development Coordinator to meet the changing needs of the University. They are also responsible for working with and making recommendations to the coordinator based on their own research of manuals, technical reports, and periodicals to ensure solutions are current and that they meet industry standards.
This position reports directly to the Institutional Research and Development Coordinator and will work closely with several members of the Information Technology Services team to help further the goals of ITS and other departments on campus.
An Associate’s degree in computer programing or related field is required or equivalent experience.

Programming skills: Java Script, HTML, HTML 5, .Net, JSON, C# and experience with MVC architecture
Knowledge of other higher education industry established applications
General to mid-level knowledge of higher education offices, functions and processes
