Facilities Services

The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the basic operation and continuous maintenance and custodial care of the Physical Plant Facilities on the campus of Carson-Newman University.

On the campus, responsibilities of Facilities Services include building operations and maintenance and grounds landscaping, maintenance and facilities cleaning.

Some of the major elements are: Approximately 50 buildings containing almost 1,000,000 square feet; A Chiller Building; A Boiler plant with a 500 HP boiler powered by natural gas, producing approximately 400 million BTU hours per day when in operation which is around 150 days annually; The college uses approximately 15 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually; The campus is situated on approximately 80 acres in a small town within an area renowned for its beautiful lakes and mountains with an enrollment of around 2200 students.

Maintenance Staff

Maintenance department has a total of twenty-seven (26) full-time employees and one (1) part-time employee:
(3 heat and air men, 2 boiler men and 1 part-time boiler man, 4 carpenters
5 electricians, 1 electrician helper,  3 ground’s men, 1 locksmith, 1 cafeteria/maintenance, 1 mechanic, 2 painters, 2 athletic fields/mail delivery, and 1 plumber.)
