Carson-Newman College through its Global Education Program works to strengthen the international and intercultural dimensions of the campus through a diverse range of curricular and co-curricular programs. Central to the mission of the college, the CGE provides enhanced programming that is committed to the Christian values of servanthood, leadership training, and global outreach.

Twenty-two countries were represented in the 2010 spring semester, with a total enrollment of 74 full-time international students and an additional 8 students coming for a special study session. These students came from countries in Africa, North America, South America, Asia, and Europe. Over the years Carson-Newman has conferred degrees on students from all over the world who have returned to their homelands to teach, establish homes, enter various professions, establish businesses, pastor churches, and become an integral part of their communities. Truly the sun never sets on Carson-Newman alumni.

The Center for Global Education (CGE) is located on the edge of Carson-Newman’s campus at the corner of Russell Avenue and King Street in a structure that was built in 1870.

In January 2003, the trustees of the college named the international program a Steeple of Excellence.  With the appointment of this distinction, a committee was formed to project specific programs promoting Carson-Newman’s strength in Global Education.
